1. Body Before Emotion

Creative cooperation between actors and directors

The workshop prepares the actor and director to work together creatively during the realisation of film projects. A physical approach is used as a fertile base for collaboration. Combining various techniques the participants’ emphasis is on thorough scene preparation and creating an environment that fosters spontaneity. The workshop provides an open environment where no mistake exists.

Body Before Emotion is developed in cooperation with dancer/performer Sara Alba

2. All Set & Camera

Acting, directing and creativity on the film set

Actors and directors often lack time to experiment with film set situations. The opportunities to work on camera without worrying about the final results are rare. This 3-day course fills that gap. The main goal of the program is to demonstrate how directors and actors can stay connected and work together creatively during a shoot. Essential tricks of the trade are revealed and crisp looks on practical camera (and sound) situations are proposed. There is ample practice time in artificially created 'stressful' set situations. Common issues concerning mis-en-scene (blocking/staging), frame limitations, sound and time restraints will be thoroughly explored.

3. Beyond The Synopsis

Multisensory fIlm idea development explained

Filmmakers are regularly in need of fresh film ideas. How can they develop them efficiently? This workshop teaches participants how to dream up their projects confidently. The program structures the idea development phase by combining the creation of the story with sensory experiences. Topics that are tackled include: inspiration, originality, cooperation, grabbing and organising material, rewriting, enriching and the presentation of a film idea. Although writing is indispensable, the workshop is not a writing course. The focus will be on recognising sources of inspiration and providing a clear working structure to develop a project steadily and step-by-step.
